History
The State Heritage listed Litis Stadium was constructed in 1959 as a velodrome for the 1962 British Empire and Commonwealth Games.
Previously known as the Lake Monger Velodrome, Litis Stadium has had a number of redevelopments over the years. In 1998, the concrete cycle track was removed, along with the metal and timber grandstands built for the 1962 Games.
By the 1970s, the stadium became the location for night series soccer games, and by 1985, it became home to Floreat Athena Football Club, which is still based at the stadium today.
