The Poppy Project 2025
Our Poppy Project will be back for 2025.
We are inviting the whole Vincent community to work together in creating a grand display of hand-crafted poppies for Remembrance Day.
Last year, a total of 1,247 poppies were made by the community and displayed outside the City of Vincent Administration Building.
We want to add to this number in 2025, to create an even larger display commemorating Remembrance Day.
Each poppy is a reminder of those who served in conflicts and peacekeeping operations. Purple poppies will also be included to recognise the animals who served alongside our Australian Armed Forces.
Poppy making workshops
We will be holding even more poppy making workshops in 2025. Keep an eye on our website and social media for workshop dates coming up from July - October.

The story
The response to our Poppy Project has been overwhelmingly positive. Community groups, clubs, schools, childcare centres and locals have come together to make poppies for our display.
Poppies have been created from a range of materials. A craft group made hundreds of crochet flowers during sessions at Vincent Library, while Vincent Community Shed contributed 300 wooden poppies that were hand painted by children at local childcare centres and kindergartens.
Thank you to everyone who contributed last year, including:
- Vincent Community Shed
- Friends of ANZAC Cottage
- Castellorizian Association of Western Australia
- Sacred Heart Primary School
- Kyilla Primary School
- Home Instead
- Volleyball WA
- Indigo Montessori Childcare and Kindy (Mt Hawthorn and North Perth)
- Mulberry Tree Child Care and Kindy (Mt Hawthorn)
- Social Craft Ladies
- Participants in the City of Vincent’s three Poppy Making workshops
- Generous local residents and community members
"It was good to be involved in a project that had contributions from many in the community.
Our members come from diverse backgrounds and countries. It would be fairly certain that most members of the Shed would have relatives or friends who have died or suffered in conflicts, past or more recent, in places all over the world. Remembrance Day is an opportunity for us to pause together and remember them."
