How fast can the shared e-scooters go?

Up to 25km/h on bike paths and shared roads, and up to 10km/h footpaths. Speeds are automatically limited on the shared e-scooters.

Where are the no-ride zones?

Shared e-scooters can be ridden on low-speed roads (up to 50km/h), bicycle lanes, bicycle paths and shared paths and footpaths. Geofencing technology is in place to control where e-scooters can be ridden and parked. A map of rideable areas is found in the Neuron app.

Where are the no-ride zones?

E-scooters will not be permitted in parks including Hyde Park and Britannia Reserve, and will automatically stop in no-ride zones. A map of rideable areas is found in the Neuron and Beam apps.

Where should I park?

Riders must return their e-scooter to a designated parking area. These locations are shown in the Neuron and Beam apps. When returning an e-scooter to its designated parking area, never leave an e-scooter on the road or block the footpath for pedestrians. Always park an e-scooter safely to the side of the footpath as neatly as possible.

What is the cost to hire?

Operating fees will be set by the provider. Check the Neuron or Beam app for up-to-date pricing before you hire an e-scooter.

Can I ride to other local government areas?

You can ride an e-scooter between the City of Vincent and City of Perth but not the City of Stirling. 

How does geofencing work?

Geofencing technology is used by Neuron and Beam to control where shared e-scooters can be ridden, parked and how fast they can travel in certain areas. This means speeds are limited and the e-scooters will automatically and gradually stop in no-ride zones.

How is safety being addressed?

Neuron Mobility: There are several measures in place to ensure safety. Safety features include a helmet lock, 000 emergency button, topple detection and ‘Follow my Ride’ functions. Riders sign up to a list of rules before they are allowed to take their first trip. These highlight that they need to be over 16 (with parental consent if a minor) and provide guidance on where and how to park and how to ride responsibly. The rules can be found on the Neuron e-scooters, in-app messages and voice guidance during your ride.

Beam Mobility: Safety features on a Beam include topple detection, tip-resistant dual kickstands, front suspension, wireless charging phone holders and a bluetooth-locked helmet. Beam's rider education and enforcement program includes mandatory riding rules
education for every rider, a safety quiz, regular refreshers and a three strikes policy where riders face suspension or permanent bans for bad riding and parking offences. The rules can be found on the e-scooters, in-app messages and notifications from the scooter itself during your ride.

How do I report illegal activity? 

All matters relating to illegal driving on e-scooters should directly be reported to WA police. eRideable riders share the same rights and responsibilities as drivers and must obey the road rules. For more information on offences and penalties visit eRideables  (www.wa.gov.au)

What about vandalism or dumping?

Cases of vandalism and dumping have been rare, however, if you do see a badly parked e-scooter, vandalism or poor riding behavior please immediately report this issue to the e-scooter provider.  

Neuron Mobility: Neuron’s e-scooters are GPS tracked tacked by Neuron so their location is always known. Each e-scooter is fitted with a topple detection feature, which alerts their operations team if it has fallen. They have unique registration plates so members of the public can report any issues, including incorrect parking, by contacting Neuron via the reporting channels above or online here.

Beam Mobility: All Beam e-scooters have GPS controls and are managed through geofencing technology. They cannot be ridden out of the permitted operating area and will come to a gradual stop if taken beyond the boundaries. The e-scooters are equipped with topple technology, if they fall over or are left laying down our on-the-ground marshals will receive an alert to attend and move the e-scooter to a safe place. All Beam e-scooters are fitted with registration numbers to make it quick and easy to report any issues. If you see a badly parked e-scooter, vandalism or poor riding behaviour please report the issue to Beam via the reporting channels above or online here. How much will the trial cost the City?

There is no cost to the City of Vincent.

The shared e-scooter trial is aligned with our Accessible City priority in our Strategic Community Plan 2022-2032. It supports our aim to make it safe, easy, environmentally friendly and enjoyable to get around Vincent.

Are the parking areas permanent?

During the trial we will be testing parking locations. If you notice issues such as such e-scooter dumping or overcrowding, please let the City know so we can consider relocating or removing the parking location.

The shared e-scooter trial is intended to support commercial activity by making it easier for customers to get around.
