Memorials in public places

We understand the importance of memorials to help people grieve, honour, and commemorate those who have passed away.

Considering this, memorials in public spaces require careful management to consider everyone's needs in our community. Safety, public amenity, and maintenance are all important factors.

While we suggest using designated places like cemeteries for memorials whenever possible, there are circumstances where requests for memorials, plaques, trees, or commemorative furniture in parks and reserves can be considered.

Approval from the City of Vincent is required for all plaques and memorials on public land. Past plaques, memorials, or monuments cannot be used as a basis for future approvals. Any plaque or memorial approved by the City will still need to be purchased and maintained by the person installing it.
