The City of Vincent is commencing works to revitalise Robertson Park this week.
The park, located on Fitzgerald Street in Perth, is a leafy, recreational space with the biggest tennis centre in Vincent.
The overall project is part of the Robertson Park Development Plan, which identified infrastructure upgrades that were needed to respond to community needs, maximise land use and improve community accessibility to recreation and leisure activities.
In the first stage of the project, Vincent will be converting six tennis courts into four multi-sports courts.
These changes will allow other sporting codes, including netball, to use the courts. Tennis infrastructure will be retained so the courts can continue to be used by Vincent’s tennis lovers.
A dual hit-up wall and half basketball court will also be built and new LED floodlighting and fencing installed. This first stage of work is expected to be complete in July 2024.
These works are partially funded by the State Government, through an election commitment from the Hon. John Carey MLA, the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries’ (DLGSC) Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund, DLGSC’s Club Night Lights Program and Vincent.
Park users will see some changes to the way they access the Tennis Centre during construction, with a temporary entrance on Fitzgerald Street and a loss of some onsite parking. More parking is available along Stuart Street and behind the Italian Club.
