A new camera has been installed at the Fitzgerald and Angove Street intersection in North Perth for a three-month trial. The technology tracks near collisions involving vehicles, pedestrians or cyclists.
Funded by the Road Safety Commission, the trial will help Vincent assess safety at the intersection. The aim is to collect data for better road planning without enforcement or fines.
The City of Vincent is the first local government in the Perth metro area to take part in the trial.
How it works
A camera with AI software analyses video in real time, identifying risk levels and near-miss incidents. To protect privacy, all data is de-identified by blurring faces, number plates, and vehicle details.
What the Camera tracks
The camera was installed on Monday 10 February 2025 and will be in place for three months. The insights could guide future upgrades to make our roads safer.
