International Women's Day 2025

Vincent is proud to be a diverse community where everyone has a place to belong. A big part of this is thanks to local heroes like Laura Mocca, Anbumoly Kuppusamy and Carmel Agnello. We know there are many more like them. We’re highlighting these three to remind us that on International Women’s Day, and every day, local women make an incredible impact.

Laura Mocca

Vincent has a thriving beach volleyball community, and Laura Mocca is part of the reason why.

When the sand courts on Charles Street saw a decline in use back in 2017, Laura stepped in to save them—co-founding The Hub Beach Volleyball and bringing the facility back to life.

Laura has helped hundreds of locals discover and enjoy sport and The Hub has become much more than a place to play.

Thanks to Laura’s passion, it’s a genuinely welcoming space where everyone, regardless of background, can find community and connection. It’s a real gem in Vincent.

Carmel Agnello

Carmel Agnello knows the power of food to bring people together.

As a volunteer with Vincent Community Kitchen, Carmel joins others each month to prepare a generous feast at North Perth Town Hall—welcoming anyone who walks through the doors.

The simple act of cooking and sharing a meal has created a sense of connection and belonging for countless people in our community.

Whether they’re new to the area, facing challenges, or simply looking for friendly conversation over dinner.

Anbumoly Kuppusamy

Anbumoly Kuppusamy helps migrant families find new beginnings in our community.

After facing her own challenges, Anbumoly is determined to help others find their sense of belonging.

Through her work at Ethnic Communities Council in North Perth and other volunteer roles, she supports migrant women who feel isolated or unsure how to make connections in a new community.
