The City of Vincent has written new planning frameworks for the Beaufort Street Town Centre and for William Street and is seeking community feedback.
The frameworks will guide future development by introducing specific planning controls and place planning actions to support the community’s vision for the area.
We’ve been working on these plans since 2023, when reports were prepared to help us understand the existing conditions, opportunities and constraints of each of these areas.
From March to July 2024 there was extensive consultation to help inform the development of these plans.
This included community, stakeholders and industry participating in online surveys and face-to-face workshops to determine the vision and design for that area.
The engagement helped identify priorities and shape the visions. Priorities for both included:
- enhancing public spaces.
- improving pedestrian safety
- fostering a diverse business mix
The planning frameworks are organised into two key parts: detailed requirements for what is permitted on privately owned land (private realm), and proposals affecting the broader look and feel of public spaces and streets (public realm).
Some of the key changes being proposed relate to:
- building heights
- safety and accessibility
- parking requirements
- business diversity
- vibrancy and activation
- attractive public spaces
- boosting greenery
We'd like to know if community thinks we've got these draft planning frameworks right.
Visit Imagine Vincent to find out more and have your say.
Consultation closes 4pm Monday, 17 March 2025.
