Bush fire season is just around the corner so it is time to prepare your gardens.
As part of the Bush Fires Act, property owners and/or occupiers need to clear inflammable matter on their land by 31 October 2024 and maintain this until 30 April 2025 to reduce the risk of a fire hazard.
This includes bush timber, boxes, cartons, paper, rubbish and any other combustible matter, but does not include buildings, green standing trees, bushes or plants in gardens or lawns.
The burning of garden refuse and lighting of fires in the open air is prohibited within Vincent between 31 October 2024 and 30 April 2025.
For more information and to read the full notice, visit the Bush Fire and Fire Hazard webpage.
