Community members are invited to celebrate the City of Vincent’s recent reconciliation milestones at the upcoming Sounds of Warndoolier event.

Vincent will be hosting the free event on 22 February, 10am – 12pm, marking the first event at Warndoolier since it was renamed.

It will feature a Welcome to Country, smoking ceremony and a live performance by Bibbulmun Noongar singer Kobi Morrison.

Attendees can also have a taste of native herbs and spices in light refreshments provided by local Aboriginal caterer All Good Grub.

The event will also mark the launch of the Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan RAP 2025 – 2027.

The plan reaffirms Vincent’s ongoing commitment to provide the community and stakeholders with opportunities to engage, listen and connect with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Reconciliation Australia, Vincent’s Boordiya (Boss) Reference Group and Internal RAP Working Group played important roles in developing the plan.

“We are inviting the community to join us and celebrate the recent significant milestones that we have achieved in our reconciliation journey,” said Mayor Alison Xamon.

“One of the biggest achievements is the launch of our fourth RAP, Stretch, making Vincent one of a handful of local governments in Australia to reach this stage of Reconciliation Australia’s framework.

“The event will be a lovely way for the community to spend a morning feeling immersed in nature and Aboriginal culture, enjoying live music from the talented Kobi Morrison and learning about historical stories.

“I hope to see you there.”

Vincent will also be celebrating other recent additions to the popular reserve. Community members are invited to check these out during the event.
