Kids can now enjoy sliding down two new water slides at Beatty Park Leisure Centre during the April school holidays.
The water slides are one of the last pieces of the puzzle after the City of Vincent spent seven months revamping its indoor pool in 2021 as part of a $3.4 million project and included $471,000 of Federal Government grant funding.
Upgrades included fresh new pool tiling, Aboriginal tile artwork, garden beds and a water playground with water features, giant tipping bucket and netball hoops.
The crowd favourite green frog also had a makeover with a fresh coat of paint.
Other works included the installation of change cubicles and heated showers on the pool deck level, updated pipework and a new water treatment system.
Contractors have been on site over the past few weeks.
The slides are now open to the public after the WA Department of Health gave them the green light.
Mayor Emma Cole said the slides were expected to be ready for kids to enjoy in the April school holidays.
“Kids from across Perth and local swimming groups have been loving the upgrades to our indoor pool area at Beatty Park,” she said.
“We have all been waiting for the arrival of the slides, which are unfortunately not manufactured in Australia and had been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“They have finally arrived and now kids can enjoy them with their family and friends during the school holidays.
“My son is one of the kids that has been waiting a long time for these slides and he cannot wait to test them out.”
