Litis Stadium changerooms works to start

Construction works for the multi-sports changeroom facility at Litis Stadium will commence in late January.

The stadium is the home ground of the Floreat Athena Football Club and the Vincent City Ducks gridiron team, while the adjacent Britannia Reserve is also used by both clubs along with the Leederville Cricket Club, North Perth United Soccer Club and local schools.

In April 2023, the City of Vincent, in collaboration with Floreat Athena, secured $3 million in funding from the Australian Government towards the construction of publicly accessible changeroom and refurbishment works to the current clubrooms.

The project involves the construction of a 365sqm publicly accessible and gender-neutral changeroom that will meet Football West’s National Premier League venue requirements as well as universal design standards.

Refurbishment works include roof repairs, bathroom, kitchen and bar upgrades, new flooring, windows and painting, electrical upgrades including a switchboard, LED lights and audio visual equipment, a security system, air-conditioning upgrade, solar panels and additional works.

This achieves a key outcome of Vincent’s Britannia North West Reserve Development Plan.

In November 2023, Council awarded Schlager Group the tender to develop the changeroom on the former grandstand site.

“Female sport has been on the rise in Australia and across the world thanks to the recent FIFA Women’s World CupTM and ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup,” said Mayor Alison Xamon.

“Our new changeroom facility will build on that momentum and global interest while boosting female participation in sports at a local level.

“It will also benefit the clubs that use the stadium and Britannia Reserve and attract new members from the local community.

“We’d like to thank Floreat Athena for working collaboratively with us on delivering this exciting addition to the stadium.”

Construction works are expected to commence in late January 2024 and be completed in October 2025.

During the works, there will be reduced parking availability in the Litis Stadium carpark. The lower Britannia Reserve carpark will be available as an alternative.

The changeroom development comes after Vincent removed the unused underpass and created a green connection between the stadium and reserve in late 2023.

The overall project is expected to be completed by June 2026.
