The City of Vincent is expanding its trial of permeable paving around trees in the medians of Scarborough Beach Road between The Boulevarde and Oxford Street, Mt Hawthorn.
This project is part of the Vincent Greening Plan and follows the recent installation of permeable paving around tree wells on the verges of Scarborough Beach Road.
Benefits of permeable paving
Permeable paving enhances the health of trees by allowing water to flow easily and directly to the roots. Its porous surface lets more air through to the soil and reduces stormwater runoff.
The approach contributes to safer and cleaner streets with a low maintenance and durable surface that eliminates the risk of loose gravel or woodchips on paths. It also contributes to a more visually appealing streetscape.
The City is trialing the use of permeable paving at this stage and will monitor its effectiveness in the following months.
