Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones.
We’ve added a touch of sparkle and festive fun across our City, with Christmas lights now switched on.
Head on down to find our interactive installations at Braithwaite Park, Axford Park and town centres across Vincent.
Keep reading to find out more about our Spirit of Christmas artworks, Shop Local campaign and advocacy for electric vehicle infrastructure.
As part of our Spirit of Christmas initiative, we’ve selected 22 artworks created by local primary school students to display on light poles on Fitzgerald Street and Scarborough Beach Road.
Head down to these high streets to check out the fantastic designs and stop by the shops along your way to do your gift shopping.
Our businesses have a wide range of unique items and experiences on offer, so it’s an easy choice to shop local and to get something a bit different.
As we head into the last few weeks of the year, I’ve had the privilege of attending local schools to present our annual Student Citizenship Awards.
The winners have demonstrated qualities of citizenship, such as enthusiasm, fairness and participation in school and community affairs
These young students have the potential to make a real difference in our community.
Along with Christmas, summer has arrived, and predictions are that it will be a long and dry one, so we are doing everything we can to ensure our mature trees survive the heat.
We are granted a limited groundwater allocation each year, so we encourage you to contact us if you are concerned about a particular tree or even more helpfully consider putting your own waste or scheme water on a verge tree.
You can also play an important role in ensuring local birds and lizards stay healthy by putting out some water for them to drink.
With an increased uptake of electric vehicles in Perth, we will be investigating suitable locations for on street charging facilities as part of our underground power program with Western Power.
Underground power is being rolled out across Vincent, with construction works in parts of North Perth and Mt Hawthorn starting in early 2025.
On behalf of the City of Vincent, I would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year.
I hope you and your loved ones enjoy the festive break and remember to note any revised bin days over the Christmas period because our rubbish collectors want to spend time with their families too!
Best wishes,
Mayor Alison Xamon
