Council makes significant milestone in securing $3M Federal Government funding.
Council has approved design plans for the Litis Stadium change rooms – paving the way for The City of Vincent to put forward a formal application for promised Australian Federal Government funding.
A $3M pledge from the Federal Government to Floreat Athena Football Club (FAFC) will enable the City to carry out the much needed upgrades which includes a makeover to the original 1968 built clubroom.
Vincent Mayor Emma Cole said the decision marked a significant milestone in the journey in securing the $3M in Federal funding.
“We are now in the exciting position of being able to formally submit an application for the grant that was promised,’’ she said.
“We’ve worked closely with the club and community to get to this stage and finalise the requirements of the proposal and we look forward to improving sporting facilities at Litis.
“The in-principle funding from the Federal Government is a huge investment for community sport in Vincent and we are so grateful. I’d also like to thank Club President Con Poulios and FAFC on working with us to achieve this fantastic result.”
Approved by Council last month, the Britannia North West Reserve Development Plan includes a proposal to demolish the structurally unsound Litis grandstand and adjacent toilet block to make way for new universal accessible toilets.
The plan also proposes to improve accessibility between Britannia Reserve and the Stadium and make the most of green space in Leederville.
