Hyde Park Accessible Playground
An accessible children's playground is located in Hyde Park (cnr Glendower and Throssell Streets).
Complimenting the popular Liberty Swing, the accessible combination playground unit includes various ramps to ensure that the playground is universally inclusive for children of all abilities, their families and carers.
Featuring two climbing nets and two sets of swings, one with special seats enabling persons with minor mobility issues to access and use it with ease, there is an accessible carousel and many items of play accessible from ground level and along the access path including a compass, clock and naughts and crosses.
The playground is located between mature, shady trees along the western end of Hyde Park and can be accessed via paved path from the ACROD parking bays on Glendower Street. There is ample seating for parents/carers to sit and watch children playing.
Also located in the main playground, is the All-Abilities Communication Board which features symbols that can be used by themselves or put together to create a longer message.
You
can read the instructions or scan the QR code to learn how to help children with complex communication needs use the board.
