Vincent Community Shed
10 Farmer St, North Perth
Vincent Community Shed is a place where members can meet, share or learn skills, converse, work on projects or just come and have a cuppa in a safe friendly environment.
Vincent Community Shed was opened as Vincent Men's Shed in 2014. In 2024 it became Vincent Community Shed to reflect its commitment to expanding reach and impact within the community.
There is an Australian Men’s Shed Association (AMSA) and also a WA Men’s Shed Association (WAMSA). Vincent Community Shed follows the basic structure recommended by these organisations, however, with the input of the members, it has created its own unique identity.
Membership is always open. For more information or to obtain a membership form please contact the committee by email or visit their website.
North Perth Community Garden
10 Farmer Street, North Perth
North Perth Community Garden (NPCG) is a community hub where people can gather, socialise, garden and learn about sustainability initiatives.
NPCG is an incorporated body and is operated by a community steering committee and supported by the City of Vincent.
At NPCG, Vincent residents have three options of membership: annually leasing an individual plot, an annual contribution toward the community plots and access to the produce from the community plot or a friend of NPCG membership.
For more information on the garden, upcoming events or workshops and memberships, contact northperthcommunitygarden@gmail.com or visit its website or Facebook page.
Short film
A short film is featuring NPCG. Vincent produced this film and we were lucky enough to have Colin, the Chair of the garden, talk about the project.

Buy nothing groups
Did you know there are eight local Buy Nothing Groups in the City of Vincent?
A Buy Nothing Group is a Facebook group hyper-localized to your suburb. Locals can post items they want to give away or are in need of — for free.
Each local group is an independent Facebook group, managed by local volunteers.
The Buy Nothing motto is ‘give where you live’ and is intended to reduce waste at a local level and build resilient community connections. The group lets you:
- Offer any goods or services you’d like to share, loan, or give away.
- Request any goods or services you’d like to share, borrow, or keep.
To find your local Buy Nothing Group, simply search “Buy Nothing” and the name of your suburb on Facebook.
Repair Cafe Perth
North Perth Town Hall
Repair Cafe Perth is a not-for-profit that is entirely volunteer-run. Repair sessions run on the third Saturday of every month, 9.30 - 11.30am. Community members can bring household items like bikes, clothes, small furniture, and toys to be repaired.
Volunteering
21.6 per cent of the City of Vincent population reported doing some form of voluntary work in 2016.
Source: Australian Bureau of Statistics, Census of Population and Housing, 2011 and 2016 (Usual residence data). Compiled and presented in profile.id by .id, the population experts.
The City recognises and values the substantial and ongoing contribution made by volunteers and is a proud member of Volunteering WA.
Volunteering WA is Western Australia’s peak body for volunteering and makes a difference by connecting thousands of volunteers to many community organisations.
