More than 100 disadvantaged young people have experienced transformative employment opportunities over the past four years, thanks to the City of Vincent’s partnership with Dismantle.
In 2019, Dismantle founded ReNew Property Maintenance, a pioneering social enterprise that empowers at-risk youth through meaningful entry-level employment, equipping them with valuable skills and workforce experience to build brighter futures.
Vincent was one of the first organisations to join the initiative.
To date, the partnership has generated more than $200,000 in wages and provided more than 100 youth employees with work experience and the skills necessary for future employment.
Each year, ReNew employees contribute to maintaining seniors’ verges, roads, laneways, parks and gardens across Vincent.
Mayor Alison Xamon said it was rewarding to help provide hands-on employment to many young people over the years.
“Our partnership with Dismantle has been a true success and we will continue to work closely together to reach out to even more young people and connect them with jobs,” she said.
“Whether it be fixing up residents’ verges or assisting with road works, our staff are keen to work with and train up the young employees.
“We are proud to support career progression and provide opportunities that they otherwise may not have access to outside of this initiative.”
Dismantle CEO Pat Ryan said the partnership with Vincent had been truly impactful not only for public spaces but the lives of disadvantaged young people.
“As one of our earliest clients when embarking on the relatively new concept of a social enterprise at ReNew Property Maintenance, the City’s early adoption of our service is testament to their commitment to innovation and enhancing both public spaces and creating lasting social impact,” he said.
“This partnership shows the powerful impact that local government and social enterprises can achieve when they work together.
“An especially big shoutout to the residents of the City of Vincent who have always made our young people feel at home in their neighbourhood.”
