Hundreds of locals flocked to Braithwaite Park to do their gift shopping at the annual Young Makers Christmas Market.
Young entrepreneurs aged 6-18 showcased their handmade and upcycled items, while making some earnings for the holidays and donations for charities at the market on 7 December.
There were 75 stalls that filled the new venue.
In the lead-up to the market, stallholders spent many weeks to create business models, prepare their stalls, make their products and even coming up with social media pages.
Some of the goods on sale included handmade jewellery, accessories, crochet animals, plants, books, Christmas cards and decorations, homemade sweets and dog treats.
One of the popular stallholders was 12-year-old Thomas Mhyre, who used his great-grandfather’s lathe to create wooden bowls, coasters and cheese boards made from recycled timber.
“I felt proud to show my work to everyone,” said Thomas.
“It was great that my customers appreciated that lots of work goes into creating each piece.
“I enjoyed chatting to people.”
Thomas said he already started planning a stall at next year’s market.
“I will be even better with another year of practice,” he said.
Shoppers also enjoyed drinks from a coffee van, a sausage sizzle cooked by the Mt Hawthorn Playgroup volunteers and entertainment from young buskers.

The market is aligned with deliverables in Vincent’s Youth Action Plan.
