A new footbridge across Walter's Brook is now complete at Banks Reserve in Mt Lawley.
The bridge allows direct access to and from the playground, car park and toilets. New footpaths have also been built to further improve connections.
Part of Vincent’s Banks Reserve Masterplan, the project follows the recent completion of the River Journeys Interpretation Node which has provided a peaceful space of culture and learning along the Derbarl Yerrigan.
Constructed from steel and timber, the bridge is designed to blend with the natural surroundings. Native trees and shrubs will be planted in winter next year to complete the project.
Banks Reserve is located along the Swan River foreshore in Mt Lawley and is bounded by Joel Terrace, the old East Perth Power Station and the Toni Di Scerni wetlands.
It is known for its cultural significance as a meeting place and camp and is officially recognised as a Place of Reconciliation.
