Scarborough Beach Road & Green Street roundabout
Main Roads WA are building a new dual-lane roundabout at the intersection of Scarborough Beach Road and Green Street, improving safety and traffic flow for all road users.
This project is funded by the State Government, following a 2017 election commitment.
The City of Vincent and City of Stirling have worked with Main Roads on the development and design of an appropriate treatment for the intersection for a number of years. We assisted by facilitating community consultation in 2020, when residents were given the opportunity to provide feedback on initial designs.
Happening now
From February 2025, Green Street will be closed in both directions between the Main Street/Brady Street and Tyler Street/Merredin Street intersections.
There will be a detour in place for approximately two months. Please plan ahead and allow for extra travel time to avoid delays.
To register to receive roadworks updates by email or to view the detour map, please visit the Main Roads website.
Changes to Birrell Street
As part of this project, the existing one-way access into Birrell Street from Scarborough Beach Road must be closed for safety reasons. Once the project is complete, Birrell Street will be reinstated as a cul-de-sac.
The one-way entrance into Birrell Street will be closed from approximately 8 November 2024.
