The City of Vincent is working with Western Power to deliver underground power to the whole of our local government area.
This is a once-in-a-generation project and will provide affordable, high-quality power to everyone.
As part of this project, Western Power will be installing new underground cabling, primary equipment (transformers and switchgear) and LED streetlights to replace existing poles and overhead powerlines.
The design for underground power in the first of eight project areas has been completed and the project is now moving into the construction and delivery phase.
Construction will start in parts of North Perth and Mt Hawthorn in early 2025.
All ratepayers in the first project area will be receiving a letter in early November with information about the cost for their property and the payment options Vincent can provide.
Payment options will include four annual instalments with fixed interest, which will be funded by a combination of reserves and loans.
The loans will need to be included City's 2025/26 Annual Budget before Vincent can apply for them.
To ensure we will be able to fund the four-year instalment option for those who need it, we require advance notice of how many ratepayers will be using this option.
To access the four-year instalment option, ratepayers are asked to reply to the survey before 16 December 2024.
The survey is available online at Imagine Vincent (hyperlink) or it can be returned via the envelope provided with the letter.
If Vincent does not receive a reply, ratepayers will be charged the total cost of undergrounding power to their property on the 2025/26 rate notice.
Payment support is available for eligible property owners, including pensioners and seniors. Visit ConcessionsWA for more information.
Western Power and Vincent will be holding a public information session on Saturday 30 November 9am-12pm at Hobart Street Reserve. Register your interest here.
