Vincent is inviting the community to bring good vibes and celebrate love and inclusivity in all its colours at its inaugural Rainbow Picnic at Hyde Park in November.
The family-friendly event, which is part of the PrideFEST 2024 program, will be held on Sunday 3 November, 2 - 5pm.
There will be something for everyone with free kids’ activities, a rainbow maze, silent disco, circus workshops, musical and sensory play, and stage entertainment lined up on the day.
Local LGBTQIA+ providers, clubs and organisations including Rainbow Community House, Perth Rainbow Swans Swimming Club and OUTdance will also showcase their services.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a picnic rug and food and enjoy an afternoon of good vibes.
“The City of Vincent is a proud ally of Pride WA and the LGBTIQA+ community and aims to ensure everyone feels safe, included and loved,” said Mayor Alison Xamon.
“Our first Rainbow Picnic will be a fantastic opportunity for LGBTIQA+ families, friends and allies to come together to celebrate inclusivity, take part in fun activities and find out more about local service providers and organisations.
“We want all families to feel welcome, included and supported in Vincent.
“I encourage everyone to bring their picnic rugs and join us for an afternoon of fun, connection, and celebration of our vibrant community.”
The event is aligned with the City’s Diversity, Access and Inclusion Policy, which aims to raise awareness and promote inclusion of the diversity of people in Vincent.
Rainbow Picnic will follow Vincent’s Pride Flag Raising Ceremony at the Admin Building on Friday 1 November, 9 - 10am.
On Saturday 30 November, Perth Rainbow Swans will hold a Pride Swimming Carnival and pool party at Beatty Park from 1.30 - 7pm.
