Replacement floodlights are being considered for Menzies Park in Mt Hawthorn and the City of Vincent is seeking community feedback.
Located at the corner of Egina and Purslowe streets, Menzies Park is a sportsground with floodlights that is regularly used for team sports.
It is also well used by the local community as it has a fully fenced playground, public toilets, and barbecue as well as being an approved dog exercise area.
The existing lighting at Menzies Park is no longer sufficient to meet the growing sporting and community needs and is due for replacement.
The new lighting will meet Australian Standards, be more energy efficient and support local sports participation, especially the recent rise in the numbers of junior girls.
We are keen to hear from everyone, especially those who live closest to the park or who use the amenities there, about:
- Number of light poles
- Hours of operation including turn off times
- Inclusion of community/passive lighting
This project would be eligible for funding under the State Government’s Club Night Lights Program (CNLP) and will be considered as part of Council's 2025/26 budget deliberations.
