Make a small change this Plastic Free July

Published on Tuesday, 9 July 2024 at 12:36:17 PM

Plastic Free July is a global movement that helps millions of people be part of the solution to plastic pollution – so we can have cleaner streets, oceans, and beautiful communities.

Reducing our use of single-use plastic is something we can all do at home, work, school, and even at our local café. Every small change will collectively make a big difference.

By signing up to take the Plastic Free July challenge, you will receive tips and resources to help you swap out single-use plastic with better alternatives.

There’s a huge range of ideas on the Plastic Free July website, here are just a few you could consider while supporting local Vincent businesses at the same time:

Avoid food packaging

Choose loose rather than pre-packaged products. Shopping at markets like Kyilla Farmers Market or bulk food stores like The Source Bulk Foods is a great way to use less plastic.

Support businesses making a difference

Show your support for businesses that offer reusable alternatives or a refill service. Dejaxo in Mount Hawthorn sells milk produced using their very own cows in the South West. You can bring along your own bottle and they will fill it up for you.

BYO cup

Bring your reusable cup to your local café. You’ll find some lovely options at local shops including Pigeonhole and Engine Room Espresso
